ABOUT THE DESIGN
The style of the accessories come from an amazing folk culture of Chinese ethnic minorities who have produced fanciful, colorful costumes with distinctive flavors. They display superlative embroidery, brocading and batik. Each of the 25 nationalities has its own traditional clothing and within each minority the various sub-group all have separate styles, in many cases a totally different look than that of their ethnic cousins. Most costume items or accessories are decorated with flowers, birds and animals from the surrounding landscape——anthropomorphic and zoomorphic images that are often abstracted.
The designers of Tile Cat to combine the Tibetan traditional patterns and minority Miao traditional embroidered techniques with the modern aesthetic theories. The design is not only inherit the fantastic folk culture, but also endow the products with eternal vitality. The vivid and colorful accessories present the best craftsmanship by the embroidered technicians.
For the embroidered techniques, different from the normal flat embroidery. we have the exceptional dimensional embroidery, such as “Seed”, “Knotted” and “overlap” stitches used along with satin stitches and couching on highly decorative.
Now less and less people learn the traditional embroidered techniques. So this is our enthusiasm and responsibility to revive the old culture from gradually extinction. Miao Silver
Miao silver is an alloy of copper, cobalt, nickel and other metals and a content of 60% silver. This kind alloy metal have been using in jewelry industry over 1000 years in south-west of China, Miao area. In the ancient China, Miao people believed Miao silver is engraved with animals, floral and geometric patterns can bring good luck and frighten away monsters. Hence wearing Miao sliver jewelry is a tradition with a long history, meanwhile, it is part of dowry for Miao girls when they are marrying.
Miao silver jewelry normally are all handmade, and the making progress is very complex and has seven steps to make.
